OK, so who did you do your previous diving with, and how far did you get?

I’ve already done BSAC training

Great! Then it’s about as easy as it could be to pick up where you left off, even if you were half-way through a qualification.  So long as you’ve got your QRB signed for the things you did previously, you can just fill in the gaps with us, and then come diving!  We’ll generally ask you to do a shakedown dive with one of our instructors before ‘proper’ diving.  This is just so we can be sure your experience matches our expectations: safety first!

I’ve got a qualification from another dive agency

Congratulations! BSAC make it easy to ‘cross over’ from most other agencies worldwide – SUSAC have members who originally trained with PADI, NAUI, and CMAS, to name a few.  You will then be able to pick up your training from the equivalent BSAC qualification; if that’s Sports Diver or above, you can more or less just come diving with us!

Most crossover members will need to attend a couple of theory sessions to become familiar with BSAC’s structure and our dive planning tables, which might be different to ones you’ve seen before.  Even if you’re fully trained, we’ll also ask you to do a shakedown dive somewhere suitable with one of our instructors.  This is just so we can be sure your experience matches our expectations: safety first!

Those who’ve dived with other agencies are welcomed with open arms by SUSAC: your different experiences and know-how are valuable to us.  If you’ve not dived in the UK or other temperate conditions before, we can guide you through nuances of technique and equipment that could make your experiences more enjoyable.

I’ve dived before but never got any qualifications
